Gateshead women create photostory magazines

6th September 2010

Groups from Gateshead Young Women’s Outreach Project and the Young and Proud group have found a voice through photography.

This innovative project funded by Gateshead Council was based at Teams Children’s Centre.

The women were given the choice to work in several different media. They found photo stories best gave them a voice and used our course to develop resources for their projects. They took digital photos, added captions and chose their favourite styles to evaluate services and express their views on how the women and their children had benefited from them.

Each group produced a magazine which will help others find out about services for young women in their area.

The groups had the opportunity to work in teams, and developed new media and communication skills.
