30 Years Later: The Kibblesworth Capsule
In 1996, a time capsule was buried in the Gateshead village of Kibblesworth. It was filled with people’s treasured objects and letters, and 30 years later the community are coming together to dig it up. Digital Voice are honoured to be able to help tell its story through creating a film, as well as running workshops with Kibblesworth Academy and at Kibblesworth Millennium Centre. These will help people think about what they’d like to add to a new time capsule - to be buried on the same day the first one is dug up, Sat 24th October.
We are calling for people to bring along what they would like to add to the time capsule -for example, a shell from a favourite holiday, a photo of a loved one, a favourite drink, a newspaper. These items need not be buried this time- we will help people to prepare a letter to their future selves with a photo of the object and a bit about themselves now, and why the object is important to them.
The Community sessions are happening at Kibblesworth Village Millennium Centre on
Saturday 3rd October 10am - 12pm
Thursday 15th October 6am - 8pm
Saturday 17th October 10am - 12pm
Monday 19th October 10am - 12pm
Everyone who lives in, or has lived in, Kibblesworth in the past is welcome to come to these sessions.
